Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Locals observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore electricity service throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28k power users in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
