Iran States It Might Return to US Atomic Talks provided that Handled with 'Dignity' and 'Respect'
Tehran is ready to resume nuclear talks with Washington as long as it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.
Abbas Araghchi said exclusively dialogue was effective, and disclosed new appeals had come from mediators to restart negotiations with the US government. He asserted Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran could not yet allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.
Walking a Complex Route
Araghchi is walking a challenging route since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be acting from a position of disadvantage, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen stronger defensively and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its enrichment centers in June.
He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the deadlock in the previous talks.
Previous Talks Unexpectedly Ended
The earlier sessions of discussions between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and hostile termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that concluded with the American leader declaring the sites had been destroyed. Following this, European countries used their right to reimpose international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.
Ideal Resolution Proposed
Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be certain that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.
It had not been agreed in the negotiations that Washington's technical specialists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the consortium proposal. Diplomats claimed on multiple occasions they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the deal to collapse due to "spoilers in Washington".
Current Position
Iranian officials said the partnership proposal was now off the table, but it seems highly likely the offer could be resurrected in various formats if negotiations reopen.
The US president last week claimed he had been obtaining communications that Iran sought to restart talks, but in private Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet obtaining clear proposals from the United States either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been charged of inactivity in the aftermath of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran asserts diplomacy is not part of a performance.
Negotiating Standpoint
In his speech to the gathering, intended to paint the US as a controlling nation that misuses the idea of worldwide standards, Araghchi declared the 12-day war showed the conflict could not be ended by armed force. He stated the assaults began with a Washington's ultimatum for an total Iran submission and ended with an complete request for a truce.
Iran is assured the initial Israeli attacks were carried out with complete American awareness and collaboration, making trust challenging to rebuild.
Diplomacy Continues the Final Resolution
Araghchi stated: "Tehran was not the one that had fled dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had repeatedly attempted to enforce their desires during the discussions. Negotiations can still be viable and remains the primary answer to resolve disputes, but its requirements, rules and fundamentals must be followed."
"If they address to the citizens of Tehran with the language of dignity and respect, they will get a reply in the equivalent approach."
Restoration and Rebuilding
In what is portrayed by Iran's diplomats as the conflict of recovery and reconstruction, the foreign minister stated he was certain Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been reestablished. We gained multiple understandings from this war; we have identified our own weaknesses and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."
He stated: "We effectively endured this war. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to destroy, remains in place. The facilities and gear, if damaged, will be rebuilt; what is important is the resolve of the nation of Iran and then the unity of the country that they aimed at, but did not succeed to destroy. The citizens of Tehran have grown more powerful, more integrated, and more supportive of the leadership and the nation in the face of this invasion."
