Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
