The incident led to the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, police said.

A young child was among those injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
