Two Men Charged for Inmate Homicide of Ex-Lostprophets Vocalist Ian Watkins

Two men have been formally charged with murder following the death in prison of one-time Lostprophets vocalist and found guilty of child sex crimes Ian Watkins.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43 have both been charged with murder and are set to face Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, according to police authorities.

Watkins, 48, was undergoing a 29-year incarceration at HMP Wakefield, with a further six years to be served on licence, after pleading guilty to multiple sexual crimes which included the attempted rape of a baby.

Watkins was taken into custody following a substance-related warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a significant quantity of computers, mobile phones and data storage units were taken as evidence.
